The Texas Gulf Coast Crime Prevention Association, a unit of the Texas Crime Prevention Association, is composed of concerned citizens, private security professionals, loss prevention experts, crime prevention specialists, public safety educators and law enforcement officers from the Texas Gulf Coast area.  

We are founded on spreading the concepts of crime Prevention through sharing information on new programs and building partnerships. 

We welcome the participation of individuals, companies and other organizations. 

Our members assisted with an important fundraiser

TCPA and TGCCPA supported the Police Memorial Golf Tournament Fundraiser in Manor Texas at the Shadow Glen Country Club. Funds raised assisted in refurbishing the Texas Peace Officer Memorial.

TGCCPA takes home 8 awards from TCPA 2011 Summer Conference

 

Texas Gulf Coast Crime Prevention Association received 8 out of 18 awards in seven categories issued at the annual Texas Crime Prevention Association Summer Conference held in El Paso, TX, July 11-15, 2011.

TCPA is one of the oldest and largest crime prevention groups in the nation. The TCPA is a 501c3 organization, comprised of citizens, private security professionals, crime prevention specialists and law enforcement officers. TCPA and the nine Texas affiliates were created to prevent crime by sharing information on new programs and building partnerships throughout the State of Texas. Each year, TCPA selects members to receive awards based on their crime prevention efforts and achievements.

During the 2011 TCPA Summer Conference held in El Paso, TX, the following TGCCPA
members were recognized:

• ·     Outstanding Crime Prevention Agency of the Year (Large Agency) - Harris County SO
• ·     Outstanding Crime Prevention Agency of the Year (Small Agency) – Victoria Police PD
• ·     Outstanding Crime Prevention Specialist of the Year (Large Agency) – Jose Amstutz, Montgomery County SO
• ·     Outstanding Crime Prevention Specialist of the Year (Small Agency) – Tony Valdez, Dickinson PD
• ·     Above and Beyond Award – Office Chris Guerra and Sergeant Felix Appelt, Victoria PD
• ·     Outstanding Crime Prevention Media Award – Victoria Media Group
• ·     Volunteer of the Year – John Cecil, Victoria Citizen Police Academy
• ·     Louise Bocock’s Scholarship – Nicholette Schafer, Missouri City

Salute to Law Enforcement

TGCCPA participates in Salute to Law Enforcement.

May 7, 2011, Willowbrook Mall, 7925 FM 1960 West, Houston TX.77070.  

Area Law Enforcement agencies operated displays and exhibits inside and outside the mall during this annual event. The goal of the Salute to Law Enforcement event was to provide the community with a chance to see the officers and equipment from those agencies that protect the public, and learn more about law enforcement in their community. Federal, state, county, and other local agencies were on display. Helicopters, mounted units, SWAT units, mobile command centers, police cars, motorcycles, ATVs, boats, military vehicles, and more, were available for the young and old to see up close.

TGCPA operated an exhibit booth which provided crime prevention tips and information to the public as well as law enforcment. TGCCPA's McGruff made its debut and was an instant hit with everyone.

The yearly event that is held at the Willowbrook Mall in May, the Saturday before the National Police Week. Over 100 law enforcement and public safety agencies participated in the event. This family friendly event is free and open to the public and sponsored by the Spring Independent School District Police Dept.  

TGCCPA CRIME PREVENTION I training completed

Texas Gulf Coast Crime Prevention Association (TGCCPA) and the Harris County Sheriff’s Academy offered a comprehensive 40-hour Crime Prevention Certification Training Part I in November 2011. Attendees as far way as Dallas and Waco joined local Crime Prevention practitioners in making it one step closer to becoming a Certified Crime Prevention Specialist.
